to the Crocodile Bay Lodge 2002 site
for more exploring.
Crocodile Bay Lodge is located on the Golfo Dulce on the
Osa Peninsula in southwest Costa Rica (Pacific Ocean side).
It’s set on 44 acres of tropical gardens that are simply gorgeous.
As you stroll through the grounds, you are surrounded by beautiful
flowers and plants and have the pleasure of seeing and hearing beautiful song
birds. How about the lodge having
its own Butterfly Farm and crocodile pond as well?!
The main lodge building houses the restaurant, bar and office/reception
area. Guest rooms are located in outlying buildings with 4 units in
each building. They have great
balconies or patios for relaxing after a day of fishing or just for enjoying the
setting itself. In the center of
the compound, near the main building, is a beautiful pool and Jacuzzi area.
Boy, the latter comes in handy after a long day offshore!
Each morning at the lodge begins with a great breakfast.
Then guests head out for a full day of fishing (or eco-touring for the
non-fishing guests). Upon returning
back to Crocodile Bay Lodge, the center for socializing is the beautiful bar
area. It’s where tales of the day are exchanged with other guests
while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeurvres.
Afterwards, dinner is a culinary delight! During our visit, we enjoyed wonderful seafood, pasta,
paella, fresh vegetables – all outstanding!
Needless to say, we didn’t lose any weight on this trip!
The bar also becomes a post-dinner gathering spot where those earlier
tales of the day become even more robust as the size/number of the day’s catch
seems to grow! Oh well, that’s
part of the fun!
As we noted earlier, the staff members are outstanding! They are very friendly, capable individuals who do a great job in making sure that you have everything you want and need. Since they speak English, it was very easy to communicate. Also, everyone was gracious in assisting Lindy in trying to improve her basic Spanish (still lots to go there!).
