This was our 6th year to return to Arkansas to fish with Forrest Smith. He’s an excellent guide and a ton of fun to fish with on the river. Unfortunately for us, this will likely be Forrest’s last year of guiding. He will soon be finishing his mechanical engineering degree and moving on to greater horizons. We wish him all the best in his new career!
Now, back to our fishing…. We enjoyed another great time! We floated the White River for two days, used a motorized “john boat” on the White River on one day and floated the Norfolk River for two days.
When fishing the massive White River, we floated different stretches to see what we might encounter in each area. When fishing the Norfork, you float its entire length and take out just before it reaches the White River. As usual, we were able to catch & release many rainbows. We each also enjoyed catching a “grand slam” – a multi-species experience in that we caught cutthroat trout, rainbows, brook trout and brown trout in a single day! In addition, each of us landed a 23 inch brown trout. Wow!
