We spent a week in Brisbane beginning on  Saturday, 19 October through Friday, 25 October.  After arriving at the Brisbane Airport, we took the AirTrain from the Domestic Terminal at the airport into Central Station in Brisbane’s Central Business District.  From there, we walked to The Meriton Apartments, our home for the next seven nights.  Highlights of our visit included:

Riverwalk/CityHopper Ferry – Cruising the Brisbane River:   We used a combination of the Riverwalk and the City Hopper to take advantage of seeing sights located on the lovely Brisbane River.  The Riverwalk is a pedway along the Brisbane River.  It has various access points to the Central Business District as well as the Queen's Park Gardens.  Both pedestrians and cyclists use the Riverwalk to get around the city.

If you want to go a bit farther and/or visit the other side of the Brisbane River, a great way to do so is to hop on the CityHopper Ferry. The CityHopper service allows you to rediscover Brisbane for free with ferries running every 30 minutes between 6am and midnight, seven days a week.  It travels along the River, stopping at North Quay, South Bank 3, Maritime Museum, Thornton Street, Eagle Street Pier, Holman Street, Dockside and Sydney Street terminals.  You get some amazing views and a chance to relax after walking the Riverwalk.

Central Business District:  Brisbane offers some interesting architecture, especially in its Central Business District.  One quick way to get to see most of the key buildings is to use the City Loop and Spring Hill Loop bus services.  We took advantage of these free buses to stop at various buildings, churches, etc. and get some nice photographs.

Queen's Park:  Queen's Park is a lovely garden located adjacent to the Central Business District on the Brisbane River.  It provides a great escape from the downtown “hustle & bustle.”  The area has been part of horticultural history since 1828.  We enjoyed our brief respite there.
