Between our weeks of fishing at Andy Myers Lodge and Selwyn Lake Lodge, we decided to explore and enjoy Canada's national parks.  What a great choice!  We worked our way first to Glacier National Park, British Columbia and Mt. Revelstoke, British Columbia.  We had phenomenal views of glaciers as well as tree-covered mountainsides.  We did some hiking and really enjoyed nature at it's finest.  Of course, hiking in Canada always involves notices to beware of grizzly bears.  Thankfully, we never saw any on the trail.  We did, however, see a small group (five) Rocky Mountain Sheep.  It's amazing how they can gracefully move from rock to rock without a bit of hesitation!

After these parks, we explored Yoho National Park, British Columbia and Banff National Park, Alberta.  Again, views were spectacular.  The parks are very lush and each corner is another stunning view.  They both too have glaciers, many of which are visible from the main roadway, Highway 1.

Next, we went back into British Columbia to visit Kootenay National Park.  Following a day there, we returned to Banff National Park enroute to Jasper, Alberta.  A great stop in the Banff National Park is the Icefield Centre.  A great spot to learn about glaciers by visiting one!  Also, while on Edith Cavell Road, we were lucky enough to see seven goats and one Black Bear.  Seeing animals in their native setting is always great!  Finally, our stay in Jasper was made great fun by staying at a downtown lodge and enjoying freshly made ale from the tap!

After leaving Selwyn Lake Lodge, we once again made a stop at Waterton Lakes Park in Canada.  It's just north of Montana's Glacier Park and together they form the Glacier Waterton International Peace Park.  It was another beautiful spot and we had the thrill of seeing a grizzly, thankfully from the road as he was crossing in front us.  Waterton was another great park and a wonderful place from which to say farewell to Canada in 2001!
