Having toured extensively last year in New Zealand, we focused our touring this year on the remote regions of the South Island. We began our adventure by going on an overnight cruise of Doubtful Sound (last year, we did the better-known, Milford Sound). It was a beautiful experience and showed the fiord land in all its natural beauty.
After the cruise, we drove the Scenic Southern Route (including Invercargill) and saw some sights even few Kiwi’s see. We went to South Point, the southernmost point of the South Island, and drove out gravel roads to several beautiful lighthouses. You see a lot but you sure don’t drive fast in this part of the world!
We concluded our touring in Dunedin, a favorite spot. We toured Lanarch Castle, a landmark. Then, we toured the Speights Brewery, home of the “Southern Man’s” beer. Not only is it tasty, but Speights also has a great ad campaign that uses two cowboys. As Texans (Ed can be honorary), we really enjoyed it too.
After touring, it was pure NZ fishing pleasure! Check it out!!
