Our first week of fishing was spent aboard the M/V Azul, a
54’ Hatteras we love to refer to as “the limousine.” We boarded the vessel at Puerto Chacobuco and spent 6 days/5
nights motoring in the fjords in the south of Chile. We disembarked each morning and afternoon via a Zodiac craft.
We then fished fresh water streams that ultimately emptied into the
fjords. Not only did we enjoy the fishing, but we once again saw
incredible scenery and enjoyed the solitude of fishing very isolated waters.
Our fishing partners were Joy and her son, Byron.
We fished with them last year aboard the M/V Azul.
They were great boat companions, as was the crew – Chief Guide Andres,
Guide Fabian, Captain Freddy & Chef Gonzolo. After fishing each evening, we returned to the M/V Azul to
enjoy a cocktail and appetizers, great wines, excellent companionship and a
delicious dinner.
Below are highlights of the fish that we caught and released during the week. As you’ll see, we had some great rainbows and salmon. We’ve also included a few shots of our companions and the scenery. Another wonderful adventure aboard the M/V Azul! If you’re interested in a similar adventure, contact by Valles del Sur (www.vallesdelsur.com).
